All the Awards!
Huge news, guys, so I’ll get right to it: THE ANATOMICAL SHAPE OF A HEART won a RT Book Reviews Reviewers’ Choice Award for BEST YA PROTAGONIST! Whaaaaat??? The other two YA award winners were DUMPLIN’, by #1 New York Times bestselling author Julie Murphy (her book also won Book of the Year!) and SIX OF CROWS by #1 NYT bestselling Leigh Bardugo (her book is also being made into a movie). Huge congrats to both of these talented ladies. I feel…unworthy to be standing next to them. However, I will be flying to Las Vegas to accept the award at the RT awards ceremony on April 15h. If you are attending the RT Convention (or just happen to be Vegas on April 15-16), I hope to see you there!
Secondly, today I was thrilled to receive the call (otherwise known as THE CALL) informing me that THE ANATOMICAL SHAPE OF A HEART has finaled in the YA Romance category of the RITA awards! These are the equivalent of the Oscars of the romance writing world, folks. So when you final, it’s pretty much like being nominated for an Oscar. I couldn’t believe it when BITTER SPIRITS was nominated last year, and I can’t believe I’ve struck gold twice. Romance writers will vote on the finalists, and the winners will be announced at a black-tie ceremony this summer in San Diego, CA. Still deciding whether I will attend. Will let you know on social media!
