Hey Jenn,
I’m real excited to get started on the book today. But imagine my shock when I learned it was the FINAL book in this wonder series. Say it isn’t so! Why on earth would you want to do that? I LOVE THESE BOOKS!!! I turned my best friend on to them and now when she learns this is the last book, she will probably not speak to me for a day!

Hi Carla! I’m so glad you love the books enough to pimp them out to your best friend—wheee! Why would I end the series? Because last year, when I was writing book #4, I saw a LOT of UF series not being renewed by publishers—some of them more popular than mine—and readers were left dangling without proper endings to storylines. I didn’t want that to happen to Arcadia. I wanted to be able to end it on my terms. And I also wanted a chance to work on new things, like my Roaring Twenties romance series and my young adult books—THE NIGHT OWLS is my first hardcover, which is exciting for me.
My contract with Arcadia’s publisher is still open, so never say never! But this is the end of the Moonchild storyline for sure, and the end of the series for now. I’ve lived with these characters in my head for years, so it’s a bittersweet, difficult decision for me, but I’d rather it go out on a high note, you know?

I understand what you are saying and I’m glad it was your decision. There have been several series this past few years that have been cancelled by the crazy drug induced publishers. Which have left the fans of the series devastated and confused. So I’m really glad yours will end the way you want. I should finish it tonight! Now please do keep churning out those wonderful stories so that I may pimp them out to my friends 🙂 BTW… Bitter Spirits left me blushing like a school girl who has found her mothers dirty diary! LOVED IT!

WHAT?!?! Last book!?!?? I’m crushed!! Thanks Carla… I am going to ignore you for at least half a day….
Seriously though glad to hear it will end on a high note cause a cliff hanger would suck. I’ll cross my fingers for more Arcadia stories down the road. 😉

I loved this book (and the whole series)! I read it in 2 days and only stopped the first night because I had to make it to work the next day. 🙂 This whole series has become a top favorite of mine and one that I will be re-reading many, many times.
I’m looking forward to your next books also. Have a great day!

I just finished Banishing the Dark, I’ve loved this series so much and although I am sad that the series has come to an end, I’m glad that it has ended on a good note and hasn’t been dragged on for a million books (even though, I’m sure you would have made those books equally amazing.)
I do hope that you aren’t finished with this lovely world and characters. I would love a YA of Jupe or Tabitha, or even adult books when they are all grown up! Or even a series about Kar Yee. All your characters are brilliant, but I must say Jupe is my favourite… so I really hope that we can see more of him in the future and Leticia! I’ll stop gushing now.

Hiya, Kate! Thanks so much for all the kind words. I’m so pleased you liked how things ended. I’ve occasionally considered revisiting this world from a different angle in the future. Jupe and Leticia would make a fun mystery-solving duo, I think. There are still some stories I might like to tell, so I’ll just say it’s not an impossibility. Never say never! 🙂 Anyway, thanks so much for reading!

That was a terrific ending – I am a huge fan of the time-jump epilogue and it was great seeing Cady and Lon after their drama’s end’s really set in. One question: Any chance of ever getting a short story from Lon’s POV? After all, Cady and Jupe got their turn in the narrator’s chair (more or less) and I’d be interested in the time between books 3 and 4 and what was happening – it was a lot to take in all at once after all.

Hi Sam! Aww, yay—so glad you liked the ending! I thoroughly enjoyed writing the epilogue for them. And yes, I’ve considered writing something from Lon’s POV on several occasions. I think it would be interesting to see how his mind works. I don’t have immediate plans to do this, but one never knows… 😉
